Edge Epic 2012 Regulator Review

Wow, this little regulator is amazing!  I first used this regulator in 2013 while testing regs with Scuba Labs in Clearwater, FL and was blown away with the ease of breathing in each of it’s tests.  After diving many other high end regs, this was still my favorite one and to beat it all, it was the cheapest (cost) of any of the other regs tested those two days.  The breathing adjustment knob was easy to use and you could actually tell a difference if you were using it, although not needed.  The mouthpiece was comfortable unlike several of the more expensive regulators.  Another great feature of this regulator, you can take the technician course, buy the parts kit and service the regulator yourself.  If you haven’t dove with one of these regulators and are in the market for a reasonably priced regulator with great performance, get to your local dealer and try one of these out!  For more information, please visit the manufacturers website or your local Edge/Hog dealer.

Poseidon Cyklon Regulator Review

I had the opportunity to test out a few regulators that I have not used before earlier this week and wanted to write a few reviews of some of them.  I have always been curious about the Poseidon regulators as I have not ever had the opportunity to use one.  It was a nice quiet morning at Alexander Springs, FL and I setup the Cyklon regulator on the tank and went to the waters edge where I then completed all of my pre-dive gear checks.  After completing the pre-dive checks, I slowly went under water and took the first breath out of the regulator with very little work of breathing needed.  I made my way over to the outflow and performed several different tests with the regulator.  Much to my surprise the Cyklon performed perfectly on all of the tests.  When exhaling, the bubbles that typically distract your vision were to the left side and out of the way which was a nice feature of these regulators.  The only negative thing that I have to say about the regulator was that it felt a little more heavy than most regulators that I normally use.  Below is a little information from the manufacturers website on this solid regulator.  For more information, please visit the manufacturers website or your local Poseidon dealer.

Update

It has been a while since I have posted anything on a blog, life has been busy.  I would like to get things started again by doing some dive gear reviews and dive site reviews.  If you are a product manufacturer, dive site owner, charter operator, etc. feel free to contact me and I will get a review completed for you.  A little background on my diving career.  I never really had an interest to dive, always thought that it was too dangerous, etc.  One day while working at the fire department my Chief approached me and asked if I would be interested in taking a dive class as our department was going to start a dive team to supplement our county’s dive team.  I said sure, I’ll take the class.  I remember having issues with popping to the surface while doing pool sessions during the class as I was always used to being able to “nose” breathe.  I got this corrected and fell in love with the sport.  I have since then completed my Advanced Open Water, Nitrox, ERD I Diver Technician, ERD II Diver Technician, Cavern, Cave, and Dive Guide.  This is all coupled with numerous fire department and rescue classes with many hours of training over the 16 years as a firefighter.  I am currently working on my Dive Master and Dive Control Specialist courses.  I have had the pleasure of diving with Scuba Diving Magazine’s Scuba Lab crew to test out regulators in 2013 and was pictured in the magazine.  I look forward to having the opportunity to take part in this again this year.
